How Can You Help?

Seafaring has always been a passion of mankind.  For centuries, the ocean has fueled our sense of adventure and taught us valuable lessons about survival and our connection to the environment.  That premise - learning about ourselves through seafaring pursuits - is what the American Institute Of Marine Studies (AIMS) is all about.  Founded over two decades ago, our mission is to enrich the lives of troubled teens, people with disabilities and others looking for direction in their lives.

Daily Excursions
Field Trips from simple recreation to complex education

AIMS recognizes the need for organizations and individuals to contribute to the well being of the community in which they live.  We build marine education experiences for a variety of purposes to fit the needs of local groups whether or not they are a club, school class, or researchers doing water quality monitoring.  Contributing vessels, licensed crew, navigation and marine science equipment, and an experienced coordinator, we put together field trips ranging from several hours to five days in length involving participants in the study of local maritime history, marine studies, piloting, seamanship, and boating safety.  Programs are tailor designed to range in complexity from recreational excursions that expose youths to the beauty provided by our marine environment to college level oceanography classes performing authentic oceanographic research.
